Healthcare equipment is frequently finished with an antimicrobial coating, but to date similar treatment has not been utilised on the associated medical cables and connectors. A significant weak link from an infection control perspective, a solution is now available from Contour Electronics. By incorporating an additive from British antimicrobial specialist, SteriTouch, Contour’s medical cable sheathing will provide protection against illness causing bacteria such as MRSA, Salmonella and E. Coli. The SteriTouch antimicrobial additive harnesses the sterilising properties of silver, encapsulated in an innovative carrier which ensures that Contour’s medical cables exhibit excellent antimicrobial performance while remaining effective for many years. |
